Dig Two Graves drags Black Dirt Gospel through eight tracks of grief, isolation, resentment, and the things we carry long after we should have laid them to rest. Wrapped in the album’s scorched-earth imagery - two freshly dug graves, black soil, and a lone shovel against a dying orange horizon - the physical CD (with hidden artificial artifacts inside) turns the record into an relic from the burial itself.

From the opening weight of “I’m Disappointed” through “Staying Awake,” “Walk Without Witness,” “Soft Places Don’t Exist,” “What We Leave Buried,” “The Grief in Me,” “What Remains,” and the closing title track “Dig Two Graves,” this is music for staring directly at what hurts instead of pretending it just simply disappeared.
